I had a lovely family visit today. Once again, we all ended up going to a supermarket. I promise, I do not come from a family that regards it the height of entertainment to visit a supermarket. Except, apparently, I do. And I'm one of them.

We spent most of the time sitting eating and drinking tea, while Nibling watched Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom. It is about Ben, an elf, and Holly, a fairy princess. I know, I know. However...
One of the plot points in this particular episode involved explaining what an 'astrophysicist' does and hunting for a book on astrophysics.

The 'text' on the storybooks, I was amused to see, wasn't garblescribble, but Lorem Ipsum.

My Nibling has an adorable habit, when bought a present, to make sure, on the giver's next visit, to show that she is using and enjoys said present. She doesn't actually say a word about it, just uses it or wears it close to the giver.

I've had my new patient check. I am healthy, half an inch shorter than I used to be and seven pounds less than at my last check. I've also learned that during a breast exam, as well as all the fondling, there's a hokey-cokey element to check no parts of the breast are stuck to the chest wall. I'm a little sad that Pol isn't around to double-check this for me. I am sure he'd be glad to help.

Had a nice dinner with Pol's family.

I've also been in the garden, where I found all my dill has been killed. If I want dill, I have to start again from scratch. I probably will do just that, and let it get large before I plant it out. This dill had been out for weeks and been fine, so I am sad.

I have a few live turnips outside, (Arcoat, which grow to the size of a golf ball) until they get chomped. In the greenhouse, I have sixteen I've transplanted to get nice and big. The rest can stay in modules for a while longer, since they have room. Seed compost is low in nutrients, so they should be retarded compared to the moved on ones (which are the biggest anyway), so I'll move them on for an ad hoc succession planting. I wasn't expecting so many to germinate and do so well so soon.

I now have two nasturtium plants, one well-chewed and one okay. And I have to stop typing because Spice has missed me and keeps wanting a cuddle. She can be very heavy and demanding when she wants to be.

Busy day.

I went over to Nottingham at the weekend and saw my family, in stages, then Cwol. I came back to find a book I'd meant to give Cwol, sitting there looking at me. I might ask Pol nicely to take it with him when he drops off my sibling's books. It wasn't the best of visits: everyone was tired and I had the most thumping headache all day, I think because of the extremely wet weather.

Today has been bright and fine, and I've been able to do loads. I tidied the sitting room up. When it's tidy, I want to spend time there, and if I am sitting downstairs, then all the housework tends to get done in the ad breaks. I also cleaned the kitchen, folded Pol's laundry, sorted out the blue sofa as much as it can be sorted out and planted out bulbs. I need more compost.

Now I am upstairs. I discovered Moth still sitting quietly alert in exactly the same place I left her hours before. Even with the strong painkillers, she's clearly reluctant to move much. She's also having trouble scratching herself and walking around on the duvet - her claws catch in the fabric as if she can't quite keep them retracted any more. I put her on the bed and spent a while scratching her head, which made her very happy. She just wandered off for a while and limped painfully back for more head-scratching. I suppose that's me here for the interim then.

I gave in and joined Facebook, since it seems to be ubiquitous now. I'm Supermouse TheRodent (apparently Facebook doesn't like spaces). I'm still doing daily posts and so on here. I didn't post last night because by the time I'd greeted my family and settled in, it was time for bed and already past ten. Today's daily post is already being done.

I don't have any cake though.

There's little to report, really. An M.E. relapse means that I am pretty much spending all day, every day, in my room and occasionally emerging to watch television or say hello to Pol or Random. I am finding myself watching TV programmes in instalments as it all gets too much. My physical activities are limited to looking after Moth and doing occasional pots and laundry.

My dearest mama is making up for this with a whole new social life, up to and including heavy metal karaoke, being a burlesque groupie and dancing about with an Elijah Wood lookalike.

It's my MIL's 60th birthday on Wednesday. I managed to find a suitable present, which Pol sent to her. I hope she likes it; it's a 2.5 hour session in a day spa, with champagne.

I'm visiting my mum and sibling, and my other sibling and my nibling are coming over tomorrow. At some point, I'll visit cwol. My family liked seeing my house on street view.

On the way to my mum's, we popped in to see Kira and family, which was good fun. I'm going to buy Dominion and drag it down there at some point, I think. We talked chainmail, politics and ooglies and there was bat-and-ball.

Before I packed to go, Pol brought me coffee in bed. Random was being her usual sweet self, although wobbling occasionally from side to side. The cat was in the cattery and I miss her. She's had a vitamin-and-steroid injection to give her some bounce. It worked.

Every so often, I looked at or listened to the news to see if we have a government yet - or, as some have been saying, whether Whitehall has sorted out its PR department. The answer is no. I'm hoping that there will be an effective Tory/Lib Dem coalition. I *really* don't like the Tories, but it's the best option in the current situation. Lab/Lib *right now* would be terrible.

The BBC's agenda has been showing rather obviously, this election. Bad BBC, no bikkit.

I have been carefully not thinking about it, so I didn't realise how worried I was, deep down, for my middle little sister, until she was safely delivered of her baby this morning at 10:30am, thus avoiding both our birthdays which are around this time of year. I found out by text when I woke up at about 3pm. My brand new nibling weighs about seven and a half pounds (three and a bit kilos?), has a shock of black hair and took twelve hours to arrive even despite a few difficulties (twisted head presentation so a ventousse was needed). Mother and baby are both doing well.

I'll go and see the three of them when I am out of quarantine (I have swine flu, it's much less bad overall than the seasonal flu in March but it's making me terribly wheezy).
