Twitter, science and the weekend.
Oct. 31st, 2010 04:45 pmYesterday, I was supposed to go to a birthday party (Many happy returns, Andrew, if you're reading this.) I had a migraine instead, which was a real shame. Pol went and had a great time.
Today I was really rather better, and went to TeaTwitter Manchester, with Madlab giving talks up two flights of stairs from the tea and cake (the tea and cake was accessible, the science not). I ate a lot of cake and then was told in detail, with slides, what it was doing to my teeth, and which other life forms were going to enjoy the cake after I had. I also had soup. And lots of tea. I talked to brand new shiny people, and already familiar shiny people. Life was good. Then we left, and the Mancunian Way presented one of the most beautiful treescapes I have ever seen, in every conceivable non-blue hue, then topped it off with a sunset sundae.
Now I am back home. Moth is by my side, having torn herself away from her beloved microwaveable heating pad (these have improved since I first tried them, and now last 12 hours or more). I feel remarkably alert, after eating rather more sugary food than usual.
