Today I learned about Cognitive Bias.
Jul. 15th, 2010 08:14 pmAvailability Bias is always the first bias I think of, and the most important. By contrast, Anchoring Bias is utterly irrelevant: we don't need two biases beginning with 'A'. I remember that learning about Expectancy Bias was exactly as a learning experience should be.
Representative Bias is the typical sort of elitist crap all cognitive scientists love. So is Confirmation Bias; everyone I've ever met tells me they agree with me on that. I hated the idea of Self-Consistency Bias even before I knew what it was, and also I knew as soon as I saw the name that Hindsight Bias would be useless.
BTW, my explanation of Self-serving Bias is clear and easy to understand because my writing style is so good. If you don't understand it, it's because you're stupid.
