Sparrows, Magpies and a Robin
Dec. 16th, 2020 08:50 amThere's a gang of sparrows that live around here and spend hours at a time eating suet in the branches outide. Now and then a robin claims a suet-filled coconut shell, but even he can't see off fifteen house sparrows.
The other visitors come to the windowsill above; magpies, who are very polite about taking a lump of suet and going off with it. Meanwhile, the sparrows hoover up the rest.
Nearly nine in the morning and the street is very quiet. I think people are keeping their kids off school. The sparrows aren't here yet: they have actual visiting hours, 10am and 2pm.
