Moth has already done the very basic thing of teaching me that, when she scrapes a door, she wants to go out. She's also done the more convoluted thing of scraping a door I *can* see to let me know she wants to go out of a door I can't see. This argues both a grasp of abstract concepts ('a door as a class of objects' as opposed to 'that door in front of me') and theory of mind (working out what someone else knows) which cats definitely can't do.

And she's taught me that when she puts her paw out, she wants her head scratched. This is a new thing, but still nothing that special, if you ignore the fact that she pretty much clicker-trained me with purrs.

Now she seems to have worked out that, if I can't see her paw, she can hit a crackly sweet packet to get my attention, then wave the paw to demand her head be scratched. This could be coincidence, but, given her past achievements, I am not sure.
