Just in case you didn't know, Livejournal's Pingback feature in its current form not only tells someone when you link to their post (which is fine by me) but it also quotes 600 words surrounding that link, even if that link is within a friends-locked post (which is less fine by me).

Also, the 'quote comment to Facebook/Twitter' button will give people the title of even friends-locked posts. You may end up sharing information that a third party, who presumably trusts you, did not want shared.

I almost never friends lock a post, but if I do and you've shared a comment you made to that post with all your Twitter and Facebook friends, even if those friends are also *my* Twitter and Facebook friends, I will lock you right out. I doubt I actually *need* to say this, but the buttons now make very easy something which before nobody would have bothered to do.

I'm actually seriously considering keeping all friends-locked posts on Dreamwidth only. I will share invite codes as need be, and if you create a Dreamwidth pseudo-account with OpenID and I have you friended on Livejournal, I will grant access to your openID on request.

I have Dreamwidth invite codes. Would anyone like an invite code? The code allows you to open a dreamwidth account for free.

I've just defriended a bunch of you on Livejournal - this is not because I don't read you, but because I *do* already read you - on Dreamwidth. Dreamwidth are adding new features, so it's much easier now to read you over there than to read you here and deal with Livejournal's clunkier interface. The way they deal with cut tags is especially sweet.

If there are things you post to LJ that you don't already post to DW that you'd like me to read, and I've just defriended you, give me a head's up and I'll put you back. And the same if you have a DW account that you'd like me to add to my circle instead of, or as well as, your account here.

I've culled all my dullest snails and kept those with lighter or more rufous markings. I'm now down from several hundred snails to about two dozen. Given the sheer number of eggs I destroyed, I'd have had over a thousand within a fortnight. The rotting plants have been taken out, the living plants put back and the tank water is clear again instead of murky green.

More people in my friendslist are dropping Livejournal and switching to Dreamwidth. I gather livejournal have been doing something even nastier with advertising, while Dreamwidth have just brought out a whole load of new features. I do like the way DW ask 'what do you think?' and take it all on board.

The weather continues sunny. It's very, very odd, at least for the North Wet of England it is. We're getting drought warnings. I like having the windows wide open and listening to birdsong all day. It's especially sweet when Moth's curled up under my right hand and occasionally prodding me in the midriff as a reminder to keep stroking her head. Poor Pol is going to be melting.

This article from last week offers a picture of how racism is affecting people in the British workplace today. To quote: Blatant racism is still far too prevalent in the workplace: more than a fifth still said they had been offended by a racial remark in their place of work. Chinese were the most egregious victims with 35% citing an example, followed by a quarter of Pakistanis.

When I first went to put in my Interests on the profile, it was split into categories. Now it's all one block, much nicer, especially when porting from LJ.

Now I just have to work out how to crosspost and how to add LJ users to my reading circle and so on.

Oh. Crossposting couldn't be easier. Hello Livejournal! Hello Dreamwidth! Hello sky! Hello clouds!
